Salicornia bigelovii (Torr.)Introdução
A Salicornia bigelovii (Torr) é uma planta que tolera solos muito salgados, pertencente à família Chenopodiaceae. Ela se desenvolve em ambientes com altíssima salinidade. A espécie possui adaptações fisiológicas e estruturais que permitem armazenar sais em seus tecidos, controlar e equilibrar, por meio de processos osmóticos, a quantidade de sais em níveis que não são tóxicos para as células, além de selecionar alguns íons e moléculas, como o NaCl, dentro delas.
Introdução
Salicornia bigelovii é uma planta que cresce em solos salinos, conhecida como halófita, e é utilizada no combate à desertificação. Pertence à família Chenopodiaceae. Suas sementes possuem 18% de proteína e 24% de óleo, sendo que 70% desse óleo é composto por ácido linoleico, um tipo de ômega-6.
