Introdução

Conhecida mundialmente como 'árvore do viajante', a Ravenala madagascariensis Sonn. (Strelitziaceae) é uma espécie que só existe em Madagascar e é considerada um símbolo icônico do país. Ela é amplamente encontrada na região leste de Madagascar, com quatro variedades diferentes que estão bem representadas na comunidade de Ambalabe.

Introdução

A Ravenala madagascariensis Sonn., da família Strelitziaceae, é popularmente conhecida como Palmeira-do-viajante e tem sido usada tradicionalmente no tratamento da diabetes.
